Prabowo Halts SOE Commissioner Bonuses: People Impacted

President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his dedication to reforming state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in Indonesia by discontinuing the practice of awarding bonuses, also known as tantiem, to SOE commissioners. Speaking at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 in Tangerang, Prabowo highlighted the mismanagement and dispersal of SOE assets over the years. Through the consolidation of these assets under Danantara, Indonesia has emerged as a major player in global finance, ranking fifth in sovereign funds worldwide. Despite this success, Prabowo condemned the granting of bonuses to SOE commissioners, especially when companies are incurring losses, deeming it unjust. He emphasized the necessity of abolishing these bonuses as part of a wider reform initiative to foster integrity and professionalism within state-owned enterprises. Prabowo also made it clear that dissenters to these reforms will not be tolerated, as there are plenty of young individuals eager to assume the responsibility.
