Prabowo’s Efforts to Eliminate State Budget Deficit

President Prabowo Subianto recently addressed the Parliament Complex in Senayan, outlining his commitment to steering Indonesia’s state budget towards a zero-deficit position. The 2026 draft budget sets state spending at Rp 3,786.5 trillion, with projected revenue of Rp 3,147.7 trillion. Prabowo aims to reduce the fiscal deficit, currently targeted at Rp 638.8 trillion, to achieve a deficit-free state budget in the future. Emphasizing the importance of eliminating budgetary leakages, he called for the support of all political forces in Indonesia. Prabowo highlighted the need for courage and resolve in this effort and emphasized the importance of creative and innovative financing to reduce reliance on the state budget for development funding. The government plans to boost tax revenues, safeguard the investment climate, and strategically calibrate fiscal incentives to support key economic activities. Prabowo also underscored the management of natural resources for the people’s prosperity, emphasizing efficient and productive asset management.
