President Joko Widodo welcomed President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra of Peru at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday. The state ceremony was attended by around 3,000 students from elementary to high school levels in the capital. President Boluarte’s motorcade, accompanied by motorcycle troops and mounted guards, traveled from the National Monument to the palace gates.
Upon arrival, President Boluarte was warmly greeted by President Joko Widodo, and the two leaders stood on the ceremonial podium while the national anthems of Peru and Indonesia were played. They then inspected the honor guard and paid respect to their national flags. The official delegations of both presidents were introduced, with key ministers accompanying President Joko Widodo during the meeting.
The bilateral meeting aimed to strengthen the relations between Indonesia and Peru, as both countries share a membership in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum. This meeting was a reciprocal gesture following President Joko Widodo’s official visit to Peru last year, highlighting the ongoing diplomatic exchange between the two nations. The meeting signifies the commitment to enhance cooperation and partnership in various sectors for the mutual benefit of both countries.
