President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, visited the Sentosa Funeral Home at RSPAD Gatot Subroto in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, July 30. He paid his final respects to the late Kwik Kian Gie, a renowned economist and esteemed national statesman. Upon his arrival, President Prabowo was warmly welcomed by the relatives and family of the late Kwik Kian Gie, before proceeding to the room where the deceased lay in repose. With reverence and deep respect, Prabowo honored Kwik Kian Gie, known during his lifetime as a key advocate of Pancasila-based economics. Kwik, a significant economist and political figure, passed away at the age of 90 on Monday evening, July 28, 2025, at 10:00 PM (WIB). To Prabowo, Kwik was not just an economist but also a friend and mentor who provided valuable insights into the nation’s development path. Reflecting on his personal bond with Kwik, Prabowo mentioned that their relationship was more than formal; Kwik consistently offered advice and thoughtful perspectives over the years. Even in his final days, Kwik remained actively engaged, sending messages and recommendations to the President. Prabowo expressed his gratitude for Kwik’s contributions and wisdom, stating, “Today, Indonesia has lost one of its finest sons.”
