President Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to improving the lives of the less fortunate by implementing key programs that not only address immediate needs but also create opportunities for future generations to escape poverty. Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono emphasized the importance of initiatives such as Sekolah Rakyat, Kopdes Merah Putih, and MBG in breaking the cycle of poverty and restoring dignity to those in need. Through programs like Sekolah Rakyat, the government aims to provide education as a means to disrupt the cycle of poverty perpetuated through generations.
The government’s goal under President Prabowo’s administration is to eradicate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the overall national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029. This ambitious target is part of the national development agenda and will be pursued through social intervention and community empowerment programs. Adita Irawati, a Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office, outlined the administration’s three-pronged strategy in combating poverty, which includes initiatives like the People’s School, Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools.
The Red-and-White Village Cooperatives aim to stimulate local economies and create job opportunities to empower both rural and urban communities. President Prabowo is set to launch the Kopdes Merah Putih program with the goal of establishing 80,000 cooperatives nationwide. These initiatives are designed to enable communities to meet their own needs and generate livelihoods through their own resources. The government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of these programs are felt by the less fortunate as quickly as possible.
