President’s Vision: People’s School Breaking Poverty Cycle

The Sekolah Rakyat program, also known as the People’s School, initiated by President Prabowo Subianto, aims to combat poverty through education, marking its official start in the 2025/2026 academic year with student orientation on July 14. This program is a significant part of Indonesia’s effort to build a strong human capital foundation in line with the Golden Indonesia 2045 agenda. President Prabowo emphasizes the importance of education in breaking the cycle of poverty as poverty should not be passed down as a legacy. The program offers fully funded boarding school opportunities tailored for children from impoverished backgrounds who struggle to access quality education due to financial constraints.

Education, healthcare, and infrastructure are essential public services hindered by poverty, with millions of Indonesians living below the poverty line. This economic hardship poses a challenge to achieving Indonesia’s development goals for 2045, impacting human capital development and limiting individuals’ opportunities for better future prospects. The Sekolah Rakyat program aims to address these challenges by providing equal access to quality education without the financial burden, covering all student needs such as education, accommodation, meals, and supplies.

President Prabowo stresses the importance of executing the Sekolah Rakyat program with precision and integrity to develop young leaders capable of contributing to Indonesia’s vision for 2045. The program not only ensures access to education but also focuses on equipping students with life skills based on their talents and potential, empowering them to pursue careers or entrepreneurship ventures. The goal is not only to uplift the students themselves but also their families and communities, creating a positive impact on society.
