President Prabowo Meets King Philippe: Diplomatic Meeting at Laeken Palace

President Prabowo Subianto of the Republic of Indonesia met with King Philippe Leopold Louis Marie of Belgium at the Royal Palace of Laeken in Brussels on Sunday. Upon arrival, President Prabowo was warmly greeted by King Philippe and the two leaders proceeded into the palace for an official photo session. In a cordial atmosphere, they then held a private one-on-one meeting. Accompanying President Prabowo were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and the Ambassador of Indonesia to Belgium, Andri Hadi. This meeting with King Philippe was the final engagement in President Prabowo’s series of high-level meetings during his state visit to Belgium.

After the meeting, King Philippe personally bid farewell to President Prabowo as he departed for Brussels Airport en route to Paris, France. In Brussels, President Prabowo also held strategic diplomatic meetings with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council António Costa. These meetings emphasized Indonesia’s active efforts to finalize the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the European Union, aimed at strengthening economic ties between the two entities.

President Prabowo’s visit to Belgium and subsequent journey to Paris for the Bastille Day celebrations underscored Indonesia’s commitment to enhancing diplomatic relations and economic cooperation with European partners. Through these high-level meetings and engagements, Indonesia seeks to establish mutually beneficial relationships and promote collaboration on various fronts.
