Prabowo Subianto, the President of Indonesia, showed great enthusiasm for Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s proposal to bring hundreds of Brazilian entrepreneurs to Indonesia. This announcement came after a productive meeting between Prabowo and Lula at Palácio do Planalto in Brasília on Wednesday. Prabowo warmly welcomed the initiative, emphasizing how it could enhance cooperation between the two countries, particularly in trade and investment. He highlighted the shared interests and potential for economic growth between Indonesia and Brazil, both being large nations with abundant natural resources and biodiversity.
During the meeting, Prabowo acknowledged the need to move beyond signed agreements to actual implementation of cooperation. He praised Brazil’s achievements in agriculture and bioenergy, expressing Indonesia’s interest in learning from Brazil’s experiences and innovations. Prabowo also appreciated Lula’s support for Indonesia’s plan to send technical teams to study Brazil’s advancements in various sectors.
Apart from the bilateral meeting in Brasília, Prabowo was also in Brazil to attend the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Lula, in turn, is expected to visit Indonesia in October, where a grand celebration is being prepared for his 80th birthday. The exchange of visits and initiatives between the two leaders signifies a strong commitment to enhancing mutual cooperation and learning from each other’s successes.
