Jakarta – Presidential candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto, affirmed his determination to implement a people-based economy by strengthening the role of traditional market traders, if elected as the winner of the 2024 Presidential Election.
In his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, Prabowo revealed, “Traditional market traders are the link and intermediary between producers in rural areas such as farmers, fishermen, and MSME players with the wider community.”
According to him, traditional markets play a crucial role in advancing the people’s economy, especially among the middle to lower class, which must be continuously protected from the domination of capitalist groups.
Prabowo also highlighted the potential danger that could arise if large capital owners continue to dominate the market.
“Nowadays the market may be free, but we have to build an economy based on the spirit of family as desired by the founders of the nation,” he stressed.
By strengthening the traditional market sector, Prabowo believes that the economic circulation of the middle to lower class communities can be maintained.
“We can only achieve prosperity if the economy is in favor of the people themselves,” he added. (SENOPATI)
